intro   a place to collect my ever-changing (usually growing) list of characters that i play and write in final fantasy xiv. some have full carrds of their own, some do not. either way, i thought it would be a nice way to share my menagerie of misfits. and to share gposes of characters that didn't have carrds.

  disclaimer   I felt it necessary to write this separate from my OOC section: I am aware I have an absurd number of alts. I am also aware that this is a deterrent for some people to interact with me or my characters. I'm fine with this. If you're the sort of person who prefers having only one character to focus on, and don't want to interact or build a connection with someone who won't be around on the same character every day, then I am definitely not the writing partner for you.   001.    25+ only OOC. 21+ IC is fine. This may seem unfair or unreasonable to some, but keep in mind that I am over 40 years old. On occasion, the RP I enjoy takes me to dark, vulnerable, and sexual places. I don't feel comfortable RPing those themes with someone young enough to be my child.  002.    Real life and RP are not the same.  003.    Long term or short term. I prefer pushing a story I can sink my teeth into, but I'm not opposed to 'popcorn' RP, either. Popcorn RP is what I call things like public QS RP, random encounters, venue RP. Things that are not likely to get super deep. Sometimes, those one-off interactions are exactly what you need to move your character forward somewhere else, and I'm as happy to be a part of that as something more substantial.  004.    While I don't hold strict rules about post matching, I do expect effort. That doesn't mean mult-para every time, but I need something to work with! This is not an invitation to info dump.  005.    I also RP in Discord, but would prefer to get to know you, first!

  006.    I enjoy the lore of FFXIV. I'm by no means an expert, but I prefer to abide by the lore as closely as I can. Lorebending is fine, to a point, as the lore that is available can be rather vague. However, I prefer not to engage with blatantly lorebreaking characters. I hold no judgment about those who choose to bend more extremely or break the lore - everyone RPs for different reasons. So it may be better to say that my reasons for RP do not align with those who break or disregard the lore entirely.  007.    Some examples of characters I prefer not to interact with: vampires, voidsent, ancients, overpowered characters, NPC characters (such as Scions, Cid, Ascians, etc), races that don't exist within the game (fox people, making au ra into dragons, that sort of thing). If this describes you, or bothers you, chances are we won't be compatible.  008.    Communicate. Curate your experience. If you're not having fun, tell me. If you're not getting what you want out of an interaction, tell me! We can either discuss and try to work things out, or we can go our separate ways. Sometimes, people, characters, and/or writing styles just don't jive as well as we hoped. That's okay! Don't feel obligated to continue to RP if you're not feeling it.

  APPEARANCE    being trained in the bo staff has given kasumi a rather solid but flexible frame. One would not describe her as 'ripped', but her body is fit and strong. Her one personal grievance about her own body is her large chest. It often gets in the way, and makes it difficult to buy clothes second hand or 'off the rack'.

  biography   there isn't much to tell about kasumi before she arrived at the troupe. she hardly remembers that time, anyway.Dancing is far from Kasumi's passion, but it's half of her livelihood. She takes the craft seriously, and keeps up her training. when she's not on stage, most of her time is occupied by guarding nagito, the principle actor of the troupe, alongside another hired guard, Ren. Nagito is incorrigible, and a bit insufferable, which is at least some of the reason he requires bodyguards. However, she respects his talent well enough to stick around. And, perhaps, she sees his less amicable traits as symbols of some unspoken trauma. That doesn't prevent her from chastising him, but she's far more gentle about it than she would be otherwise. That's not to say that she plays along with whatever nonsense Nagito or Ren have gotten themselves involved in, though! She's a certified stick in the mud, most of the time.

  APPEARANCE    given genevieve's background, she's a bit too tall for a hyur, and a bit too short for an elezen. her elezen ears are the biggest giveaway as to her mixed heritage. this also lends itself to a more willowy figure than the average hyur, despite her training with heavier weapons. that training and conditioning has helped her overcome the awkwardness of longer limbs, however, and she tends to move with a carefully controlled grace.

  biography   born into a firmly middle class, merchant family, genevieve has led an wholly unremarkable life. as a middle child, she didn't have the pressure of learning the family trade, and she was too self-sufficient to require as much attention as her youngest sibling. this meant she had the freedom to pursue her own interests, but it was her pride and dedication to her family that kept her close.she is average in all ways - a passable fighter, pleasant enough to interact with, and look at. But Genevieve has yet to make any great impact in the world. Perhaps, she never will, and that's perfectly all right with her. Her only goal is to find some way to elevate her family within ishgard. ideally, to find some connection or alliance with a noble family, within one of the high houses. to that end, she's found herself chasing a certain noble but estranged son of house Holtemaigne across the star.

  APPEARANCE    on the taller side, izu's slight frame still tends to command a certain presence. perhaps it's her confident posture, or her rather powerful Resting bitch face! her countenance is quite at odds with her tendency to favour pretty frocks and delicate adornments. She is rarely seen without a silver circlet on her forehead, and silver filigree leaves in her hair.

  biography   in classic Keeper of the Moon fashion, Izu has always tended to keep to herself, even among her clanmates. a dedicated priestess, she spends most days making offerings to menphina, and passing along menphina's blessings to her clan. when she's not fulfilling her duties, she's wandering and foraging in the woods, or in her own hut.on one such foraging trek, izu happened upon a young elezen man about to eat poisonous mushrooms. feeling that he owed her for saving his life, the elezen - henri - has been attached to izu ever since. now, she finds herself with the extra responsibility of guiding the kind and gullible henri through life in the shroud, and rebuilding his farm.

  APPEARANCE    blessed with a slow metabolism and sedentary lifestyle, sophia is on the larger side. one might even call her plush, with generous curves all over. she's most often seen in wraps and silks, and covered from head to toe in gold jewelry. something that's common enough in thavnair, but perhaps the amount of it might give away her privileged background. most of the time, she wears some sort of veil over her face as well. mostly because she thinks it's pretty!

  biography   coming from a long line of alchemists, sophia had a lot of expectations on her from the start. at first, it seemed as though she had promise, fascinated by her parents' work as she was. but alas, as she grew older, that fascination didn't translate into skill. no matter what she does, sophia can't seem to get things right. if she writes things down, she loses the notes. if she tries mnemonic devices, she gets tripped up. labeling things? Somehow, she looks right past them!frustrated with her inattentiveness (and a few too many accidents in the alchemy lab), sophia's parents encouraged her to go out into the world to find something that works for her. in sophia's mind, she took this as seeking out other alchemists to see if they might teach her a better way. whether she can get the hang of it, or finds something else she's good at, remains to be seen.

  APPEARANCE    every bit the small town woman, apolline generally wears her hair in simple ponytails or buns, without adornment or fuss. when she's traveling or looking for work, she usually wears simple armour. well maintained, but also without any embellishments. Otherwise, she prefers comfortable and loose clothing of cotton, wool, or linen. Shirts, trousers, and a well-worn pair of boots.

  biography   the small dravanian village in which apolline was born was often beset by dragons, before the end of the war. as a result, a system of conscription was implemented. all able-bodied citizens are required to serve as the village guard from their eighteenth until their twenty-fifth nameday. apolline fulfilled her duty, and so did her sister, elaine, after her.with the end of the war, however, the village was no longer in need of such a large force of soldiers, so elaine was released from her duty early. it was then that apolline realized neither of them had much talent for anything else. the prospect of marrying and settling down was a frightening one. neither did finding some trade to ply hold any appeal. and so, the sisters embarked on an aimless journey southward. whether they're running from responsibility, or simply giving into an adventurous spirit, however, neither will say.

  APPEARANCE    xau's sense of style isn't entirely developed. she's been dressed by her mother her entire life, and it shows. frills, lace, and ribbons are the most common embellishments found on her clothing. she wears her hair long, with a big, green bow that matches her eyes. her fluffy tail is on the shorter side, and is always adorned with a white bow. only recently has she had the opportunity to try clothing in other styles. in her attempts to appear more adult, sometimes she ends up in some rather revealing outfits. not that she seems to realize it!

  biography   raised in a rather affluent home in sharlayan, xau was accustomed to getting everything her little heart desired. if only she knew what she desired! as an only child, she had nothing to share. not even her mother's attention - for better or worse. her mother has been involved in every aspect of her life. how she dresses, what she's allowed to like, what she studied in school. if she failed at anything, her mother was there to demand makeup tests, bonus marks, and special treatment. she might have even chosen xau a partner, had xau not been whisked away to garlemald under false pretenses.okay, so technically, she's been kidnapped. and maybe a little bit brainwashed (she still doesn't realize she's technically been kidnapped). but at least now she's allowed to wander out on her own, every once in a while! the world is so much bigger than sharlayan, and there are so many cakes to try!

  APPEARANCE    never a hair out of place. verene takes great pride in her appearance, and spends a lot of time - and money - making sure she's always looking her best. her hair is always styled, usually left down and set in flowing waves. Her clothing tends towards professional but feminine. necklines and hems change depending on the season, and her mood. the main thing is, she would certainly never want to look unkempt, or worse: poor.

  biography   the pirate's life never agreed with verene. but she had little choice in her youth, born to a poor, single mother. barely scraping by was less tolerable than spending time on ships with sweaty, smelly sailors. as soon as she was old enough, Verene found employment on a relatively small-time pirate ship. it was miserable. dirty, smelly, hard work, and for so little pay. Verene was looking for a way out almost as soon as she got in.then, she met adane. It wasn't a way out, just yet, but Adane had a way about her that made verene believe they'd conquer the world. the ship was marginally cleaner. the crew more organized. and eventually, they made a living. verene was able to buy a nice house for herself and her mother, in a much nicer part of the city. she studied to become a solicitor. and now, she spends her time pampering herself, and representing the crew of the weeping angel. sometimes, she deigns to take on other cases, as well.

  APPEARANCE    usually dressed in worn leather jackets and pants, dusty boots, short tops. Things that are easy to move in and either easy to clean or just. Don't really need much maintenance. Their hair is kept on the short side, though it's a bit scruffy and often ends up in their eyes. Overall, they just give a 'scrappy' sort of vibe.

  biography   Qaletaqa has always been quick to lead. steamrolling anyone else in favour of their own (clearly better) ideas. Their head is filled to the brim with ideas! The trouble is, only a portion of those ever make it into planning stages. A smaller fraction of those make it to actual implementation. while Qaletaqa doesn't lack ambition, they often aren't prepared for the amount of effort it actually takes to get anything done. Thus, they tend to fall into the trap of getting really excited about something, and then giving up partway through when they lose steam.Thus has been the pattern of Qaletaqa's entire life. The people who stick around have just learned not to argue (usually), and go along with whatever wacky scheme they've got going on until it fails. unfortunately, Qaletaqa's tendency to get caught up in their own enthusiasm and burning out has also resulted in not accomplishing anything in the way of earning an honest livelihood. They've come to rely on intimidation, obfuscation, and distraction to take what they need from others, instead. And, of course, some good old fashioned pickpocketing!

  APPEARANCE    now that coerthas is bitterly cold, Jane is most often seen in fur-lined coats and cloaks, along with the simple frocks that are typical of an Ishgardian. most days, she's in uniform, wearing the simple garb of a servant of a noble house - a black dress, and a white apron. on her days off, she favours earthy tones and greens, and is particularly fond of hats. she wears glasses for minor nearsightedness.

  biography   The youngest of three girls, in a middle class family, Jane's prospects were limited. her parents made it clear from early on that they could only afford two dowries. Jane would have to put dreams of marriage and family aside, and find something else to do with her life. her parents' trade - woodworking - was well taken care of with her eldest sister, so Jane took to her studies. she did well enough to earn a place at a small teacher's college, and found her niche as a governess. she accepted that she would never have a family of her own, but she could help raise another!Jane decided long ago that Halone would be her greatest love, next to her parents and sisters. that devotion grew stronger than ever with the end of the Dragonsong War. Faith and love, she decided, were the most important things that would help her people and her nation heal. Most of her time is spent in service of the Branchais family, but in her spare time, she has found a great deal of joy and peace in attending church services and volunteering her time for church events.
